A new study of real-world breaches has found most of the attacks are bulk attacks that cast a wide net, the report says. The bulk of these attacks can be traced to standard cyber crime like spamming and click-fraud rather than data theft. “The base of the pyramid is the botnet and the tip is the targeted stuff,” says Oliver Tavakoli, CTO of Vectra Networks. “In general, you want to catch things as fast as possible.
