Free Speech Advocates, City Officials At Odds in New York; Bush Moves on Panel’s Advice; Bioshield Protection Not Enough for Some Drug Companies

Free speech advocates and law enforcement are at odds in New York City, site of this year’s Republican National Convention. The city recently denied a permit for an expected 250,000 protestors with United for Peace and Justice congregate in Central Park and instead moved them to the West Side of Manhattan. President Bush may enact changes to the nation’s intelligence operations by executive order or regulatory action rather than wait for Congress, according to a story in the Washington Post. Some drug companies are not satisfied with Project Bioshield, a plan signed into law by President Bush last week.”]
