Forget Whitelists and Blacklists: Go for ‘Allow’ or ‘Deny’

Britain’s National Cyber Security Center says it will be using the terms “allow list” and “deny list” instead of “whitelists” in cybersecurity. Blacklists and whitelists, in other words, are not wholly neutral terms. Instead of whitelisting and blacklisting, why don’t we just say allowed or denied?
