Congress has passed cybersecurity legislation for the first time in 12 years. FISMA reform would update the law that governs federal government information security. The last time Congress enacted significant cybersecurity legislation was in 2002. Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act would assess the future DHS cybersecurity workforce. Another bill would help the Department of Homeland Security recruit and retain qualified IT security personnel. Experts say such a system is needed to understand what skills are required and what type of jobs align with those skills. The other bill was a rider on the Border Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act.”]
