The FBI has also warned malicious actors targeting K-12 educational institutions in the US and UK. The agency also shared a list of recommended measures to help detect and block the attacks against schools and other institutions. Ransomware, malware, and DDoS attacks are the main threats to the school year, with cybercriminals threatening to leak data stolen in the attacks unless a ransom was paid.
