Facebook Says Likes Must Have Free-Speech Protection

A former jailer claims he was fired after he posted a picture of his boss’s opponent in the sheriff’s race on his Facebook page. Danny Carter was fired because he ‘liked’ a candidate for the Hampton County Sheriff’s office. A lower court ruling in 2012 said a Facebook “Like” isn’t First Amendment speech. But a judge has now ruled that a Facebook ‘Like’ should be protected under free speech. The Big Blue is hoping to reverse that ruling, which arose from a lawsuit which suggested a Facebook Like isnt First Amendment.”]
