WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum announced he’s leaving the company to have a break from technology and more time for collecting rare, air-cooled Porsches and playing ultimate Frisbee. Koum’s exit has been propelled by Facebook’s attempts to tap into data collected by WhatsApp and allegedly weaken its encryption. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg writes: “I’m grateful for everything you’ve taught me, including about encryption and its ability to take power from centralized systems and put it back in people’s hands” Koum and co-founders Brian Acton sold the messaging app to Facebook for $19 billion.”]
