Ex-FEMA Chief Takes More Blame on Katrina

Former FEMA Director Michael Brown says he fell short in conveying the magnitude of the disaster. “I should have asked for the military sooner,” he said. Brown was replaced by Vice Admiral Thad Allen, of the Coast Guard. Brown’s statement is in contrast with his testimony at the congressional hearing in September when he placed the blame elsewhere. After his mismanagement of hurricane relief, he was replaced as FEMA director. He said he should have demanded the military’s help sooner than he did in September.”]
