Equifax says a web application flaw exposed 143 million consumer records to hackers. Names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and in some cases, driver’s license numbers were exposed. Hackers accessed “dispute documents” containing personal information for 182,000 U.S. consumers. The breach was discovered on July 29, but not the largest on record. Equifax is offering free identity theft protection and credit monitoring for U.K. and Canadian residents, although some “limited personal” information was also exposed.”]
