Equifax says a web application flaw exposed 143 million consumer records to hackers. Names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and in some cases, driver’s license numbers were exposed. Hackers accessed “dispute documents” containing personal information for 182,000 U.S. consumers. The breach was discovered on July 29 and is not the largest on record, but it’s a worst-case scenario for consumers. Equifax has set up a web-based tool for people to check if their data is in the breach.”]
