EMC to Purchase RSA for $2.1B

Storage giant EMC says it will acquire RSA Security for about US$2.1 billion. EMC will pay $28 per share for RSA and assume outstanding options. RSA will operate as EMCs information security division, headed up by RSA President and Chief Executive Officer Art Coviello. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of 2006 following regulatory approvals. In after-hours trading, RSA shares jumped by $3.53 to $22.88, while buyer EMC shares dipped by $0.45 to $10.80.”]
