ECC Memory Vulnerable to Rowhammer Attack

Memory modules with error-correcting code (ECC) protection are vulnerable to Rowhammer, an attack that can help corrupt data the computer stores in its volatile memory chips. Researchers from VUSec, the security group at Vrije University in Amsterdam, Netherlands, found that although ECC is an obstacle in running a Rowhammer attack, it is not insurmountable. ECCploit is a timing side-channel variation of Rowhammer that is currently tracked as CVE-2018-18904.
