The National Institute of Standards and Technologys (NIST) has removed the Dual_EC_DRBG algorithm from the Random Number Generator Recommendation due to concerns about a weakness. The decision was taken after documents leaked by former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden revealed a backdoor placed by the NSA in the RSA`s BSAFE algorithm. NIST advises users of the algorithm to migrate as soon as possible to one of the other three remaining random number generator algorithms, including Hash, HMAC or CTR.”]
