DOJ Charges North Korean Spy Over Sony Hack and WannaCry Ransomware [Updated]

The U.S. Justice Department is expected to announce charges against an alleged North Korean spy. Pak Jin Hyok is part of North Korea’s Reconnaissance General Bureau, a military intelligence group. The charges are the first against a North Korean cyber operative, according to the Washington Post. Pak apparently has connections to numerous attacks around the globe, including the WannaCry ransomware attack. The Treasury Department is also reportedly ready to issue new sanctions against the perpetrators of the attack, though it’s not immediately clear how many people will be targeted.”]
