Skin Vibes published an article titled Both St. Kitts and Nevis to benefit from Government’s digital transformation efforts on January 15, 2021.
Minister of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the Honourable Akilah Byron-Nisbett, spoke at Prime Minister’s Press Conference held on January 14 about the benefits St. Kitts and Nevis will get from the government’s federal digital transformation efforts.
Below are some key points:
- Federal Office in Nevis is being restructured and will be offering federal services as well as other engagements that will require access to information from the amalgamated government agencies in both countries. Therefore whatever is done to St. Kitts will be done to Nevis to ensure a smooth transition of information.
- The government began the first phase of its transformation efforts, which includes the whole of government strategy and the cybersecurity strategy. They have conducted interviews and meetings with numerous agencies to get an idea of where the different ministries are in their transformation efforts and their IT.
- So far they’ve interviewed the Ministries of Health, Information and Communication Technologies, the Inland Revenue Department and Ministry of Finance. They even reached out to the departments and ministries in Nevis that offer some level of federal services but are awaiting interview time confirmation.
- The Cable is assisting the government in the roll-out of its Government Wide Area Network and have been trying to determine the best route to run the fibre lines between St. Kitts and Nevis. They also collaborated to roll-out Wi-Fi to all community centres.
