Department of Homeland Security system used to conduct background checks may have exposed information. Names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth may have been exposed for nearly four years. Vulnerability was discovered by a DHS law enforcement partner, which informed the department this past week. DHS is investigating to determine what, if any, personally identifiable information may be accessed by unauthorized individuals.
