DHS Ranks U.S. Regions on Emergency Communications

Washington, D.C., San Diego, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Columbus, Ohio, Sioux Falls, S.D. and Laramie County, Wyo. Lowest scores went to regions centered on Chicago; Cleveland, Baton Rouge, La., Mandan, N.D., Yellowstone County, Mont.; and American Samoa. Of 75 U.S. metropolitan areas, only six areas got highest ratings for interoperability. More than 60 percent are able to talk to each other in a crisis, but only 21 percent have “seamless use of equipment””]
