President Obama is expected to sign FISMA reform legislation that passed Congress this week. The new law would give more sway to DHS in assuring the security of federal government IT. DHS Deputy Undersecretary for Cybersecurity Phyllis Schneck would no longer have to go to other federal civilian agencies to get permission for DHS to scan their IT systems without agencies’ permission. The bill is one of four bills Congress passed this week that strengthen DHS as a cybersecurity force within the federal government.
