Security expert Patrick Wardle’s latest research project focuses on Mac’s webcam. It highlights how malware could secretly record a webcam session. Apple has strong security protections around the webcam that make it very difficult for malware to turn it off. At least three types of Mac malware are out there that try to access the webcam: Crisis, Eleanor and Mokes. It would be nave to think that other people haven’t thought about this who are designing Mac malware, Wardle says. In the meantime, a free tool called OverSight alerts users to what’s happening on their Mac.”]
