Defendant Ordered to Decrypt Hard Drive Says She Forgot Her Password

Ramona Ficosu’s laptop was seized in 2010 in connection with a mortgage fraud investigation. She was ordered to decrypt the hard drive on her laptop by February 21st. A judge ruled that she couldn’t use the self-incrimination clause of the Fifth Amendment to keep her password to herself. Now she plans to use the “Oopsies, I forgot” defense in court, and the court won’t deal with it until she does, Threat Level reports. Her lawyers are preparing to appeal the ruling to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.”]
