New data shows the largest DDoS attack last year registered three times the volume of DDoS attacks in previous years. Attacks against SSL-protected websites jumped nearly 20 percent, Arbor Networks says. Arbor Networks: “We are seeing a lot of Web [DDoS] attacks and encrypted attacks” Data center operations are being targeted more by DDoS, according to Arbor, with 70 percent of centers saying they saw a rise in attacks, versus 50 percent last year. DDoS can be used to overwhelm a security operations center, for instance, to weaken their defenses.”]
