Between January and June, there were record numbers of DDoS attacks compared to the same period last year. Between Q1 2021 and Q2 2021 there was a 19% increase in DDoS campaigns, some of which were over 100 Gbps in attack volume. Criminals targeted those organizations and institutions that were in high demand during the global pandemic, such as vaccination websites, e-learning platforms or portals and businesses IT infrastructure. The scale of extortion emails has noticeably increased according to security experts.
