DDoS attack was 33 percent larger than one against Spamhaus, one of the largest DDoS events on record. CloudFlare says attackers generated an enormous amount of traffic, from 4,529 NTP servers that were running on 1,298 different networks. NTP amplification attacks start by spoofing an IP address, and from there, the attacker blasts out requests to servers supporting the MONLIST command.
