An undisclosed website was the victim of a massive, dayslong distributed denial-of-service attack. The attackers included a ransom note as part of the attack itself, rather than contacting the victim separately, say the researchers at cybersecurity company Imperva. The researchers say the attack has now been mitigated. The Meris botnet, they say, played a key role in the attack, which may have been perpetrated by ransomware-as-a-service operator REvil. The gang claimed responsibility for a different attack on service provider Bandwidth.”]
