DarkSide ransomware will now vet targets after pipeline cyberattack

Ransomware-as-a-Service gang DarkSide encrypts network for Colonial Pipeline, the largest fuel pipeline in the U.S. Last week, the gang encrypted the network for the Colonial Pipeline. The US government issued a state of emergency for 18 states affected by the attack. Today, the DarkSide ransomware gang issued a press statement stating that their organization is ‘apolitical’ and is not associated with any government. The gang says they will now vet affiliates’ targets before they attack them.
