Dairy Queen stores hit by ‘Backoff,’ payment card data stolen

“Backoff” point-of-sale malware stole payment card data at 395 Dairy Queen stores. The company said it believes the “malware has been contained” Most of the stores were affected for between three weeks to a month starting in early August. The stolen information comprised customer names, payment card numbers and card expiration dates. No Social Security numbers, PINs or email addresses were stolen, the company said. The same style of attack method yielded access to Target’s systems in Target’s breach.”]
