Cyber Security venture to benefit Guyana

Guyana Standard published an article on March 29^th, 2019, about a UK cybersecurity venture that Guyana will benefit.

The UK based; non-profit organization Get Safe Online is a global initiative for spreading online safety awareness for internet users. The organization is launching a Get Safe Online website in Guyana on April 1^st, 2019, detailed for the country.

Key points:

The site provides comprehensive internet safety advice and highlights common threats that users should beware of.
A series of public awareness campaigns will be hosted over the next 12 months after the launch to raise awareness about online safety among the general public to help those that are less confident about internet usage to become aware of the safety measures they can implement.
The mission of the UK Commonwealth Cybersecurity Programme that was launched following the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in April 2018 is to deliver free, accessible, up to date and comprehensive advice about staying safe online for Guyanese people. Other Commonwealth countries where public awareness campaigns will also be launched include, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, Grenada, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, and St. Lucia. The first campaign begins April 1^st, 2019 and continues until March 2020.
The awareness campaigns include scenarios of what the victims of scams experience with messages crafted from a fraudster’s perspective.
The Global Ambassador for Get Safe Online, Peter Davies does not want people to be afraid to use the internet but rather be able to use it for opportunities and personal development.
