The Cuban Central Bank has granted the right to issue licenses for cryptocurrency-related services. This new ruling is set to come into effect in May 16th of this year. The new regulations mean that the Central bank of Cuba will have to approve applications for service providers wishing to operate with Bitcoin and other digital assets. The gazette also issues a warning to companies, both local and foreign, that they will face sanctions if operating without a license while in the country. As it has become more difficult to trade in dollars, the popularity of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin has risen in Cuba.
