Court Dismisses Lawsuit Against U.S. Wiretapping

A U.S. appeals court has ordered that a lawsuit against the National Security Agency for a wiretapping program be dismissed. The lawsuit was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union and a group of journalists, lawyers and academics. The plaintiffs argued that the program violated the Constitutions Fourth Amendment. None of the plaintiffs could prove their Fourth-Amendment rights had been violated, wrote appeals court Judge Alice Batchelder. The Department of Justice says the program was “a vital intelligence program that helped detect and prevent terrorist attacks””]
