Contact-Tracing Apps Must Respect Privacy, Scientists Warn

200 top scientists and researchers say contact-tracing apps must be developed in an open and transparent manner, use Bluetooth, and allow users to opt in. Apps must prioritize privacy by design, only collect necessary data and remain voluntary, they say. The open letter has been released in wake of growing concern over privacy-preserving PEPP-PT proposal in Germany.
