Committee backs Bellows bill to protect internet consumers privacy. The bill would require internet service providers to obtain the consent of a consumer before selling, sharing or giving away that consumers sensitive personal data or information. It now faces votes before the Maine Senate and House. The bill has bipartisan support, but faces votes in the state Senate and the House of Representatives. The state’s attorney general said it is necessary for the state to take measures to place guardrails protecting consumers.”]
