Ukrainian law enforcement arrested several individuals involved in criminal activity committed by the Clop ransomware gang. Law enforcement officials also shut down infrastructure that was used to spread the cybercrime gangs ransomware. Cybersecurity company Intel 471 says the arrests were limited to the cash-out/money laundering side of the gang’s business only. Clop helped popularize the double extortion model of threatening to encrypt files and release confidential data that was stolen in an earlier breach.
