Click-Fraud Kingpin Receives 7-Year Sentence

Estonian hacker Vladimir Tsastin, 35, sentenced to 87 months in prison, followed by one year of probation. He pleaded guilty in July 2015 to running a massive click-fraud scheme that earned $14 million in profits via 4 million victims. The gang operated publishing companies Esthost and Rove Digital, which entered into agreements with advertising brokers. They used custom-built “DNSChanger” malware to change the domain name system settings on infected computers, allowing them to generate fake clicks.
