Chase Attackers Exploited Basic Flaws

JPMorgan Chase breach might have been prevented if the bank hadn’t upgraded a sensitive server to require two-factor authentication controls. The New York Times report says hackers gained access to more than 90 of the bank’s servers. The bank’s oversight highlights the importance of keeping an accurate inventory of every critical enterprise system, an expert says. The attack was both detected and blocked by the bank in August, but the breach did not include the loss of any sensitive financial information, Chase has said.
