A CenturyLink BGP routing mistake has led to a wide-scale outage in the USA affecting CenturyLink services. Cloudflare, Amazon, Blizzard, Steam, Discord, Reddit, Slink, and many more services were affected. Services are slowly recovering, with some areas taking longer than others. CenturyLink confirmed a routing issue in their network was preventing BGP sessions from establishing correctly. CloudFlare CEO Matthew Prince stated that the CenturyLink outage led to 3.5% drop in global Internet traffic.
