Trevor Eckharts research was conducted using standard Android tools. Carrier IQ is hidden in nearly every part of our phones, including the kernel. The only place you can see that the application is installed on the phone is in Menu -> Settings -> Manage Applications. Only an application named HTC IQAgent is displayed as a running application on my HTC device. A second program called IQRD never makes itself known as a. running application. Even on old devices, IQRD runs continuously because it is set to start automatically at boot. This application has a non-descript icon and offers no information about itself.”]
