British Judge Denies US Extradition of Assange

A British judge denied a U.S. Justice Department request to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to America. Assange is accused of violating the Espionage Act and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act by obtaining and then publishing a series of classified documents. The judge said that Assange would likely commit suicide if he was sent to America to face criminal charges. Assange’s attorney, Barry Pollack, said: “The effort by the United States to prosecute Julian Assange and seek his extradition was ill-advised from the start””]
