Breaking the iris scanner locking Samsungs Galaxy S8 is laughably easy

Hackers break Samsung’s iris-based authentication in Samsung’s Galaxy S8 smartphone. Samsung says iris recognition is “one of the safest ways to keep your phone locked” The hack required a digital camera, laser printer, contact lens, and a photo of the subject’s face. Samsung and Princeton Identity say iris authentication provides “airtight security” that allows consumers to “finally trust that their phones are protected” But hackers say fingerprints, irises, and other biometrics frequently provide inferior means of authentication.”]
