The G-7 Fundamental Elements, as the guidelines are called, are remarkable for a couple reasons. The language reflects the need to treat security as a business issue rather than a technology problem. The word risk appears 30 times in the three-page document, underlining the fact that security can be managed as just another element of doing business.
