Black Hat Europe: ‘Hardening Windows 8 Apps for the Windows Store’

There are no really great apps for Windows 8 and the number of trashy apps is also very low compared to the Android and iOS ecosystems. Bill Sempf presented “Hardening Windows 8 Apps for the Windows Store” at Black Hat Europe. Developers must declare “capabilities” that are subject to Windows Store Policy in order to use features of the Windows 8 OS. Developers should always apply least privilege to apps that only have the capabilities they need to use. If you enable your app to be a ‘hare’ target, then you’ll understand why you’ll be forced to change passwords.”]
