1. Check for Manufacturer Backdoors

  2. Common Backdoors: Some common backdoors include:
    • AMI BIOS: Try ‘admin’, a blank password, or ‘password’.

    • Award BIOS: Try ‘award’, ‘CMOS’, or a blank password.

2. Use the Manufacturer’s Password Recovery Tool

3. Clear CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor)

  1. Power Down & Disconnect: Completely power off your computer and disconnect it from the mains electricity supply.

  3. Clear CMOS Options: There are two main methods:
    • CMOS Jumper: Locate the CMOS jumper (often labelled CLR_CMOS, CLEAR_CMOS, or similar) on the motherboard. Move the jumper to the clear position for 5-10 seconds, then return it to its original position.

  2. Connect & Program: Connect the IC to the BIOS chip on the motherboard according to the manufacturer’s instructions and program it to unlock the BIOS.
