‘Bashlite’ Malware Leverages ShellShock In BusyBox Attack

Trend Micro: Bashlite malware is using ShellShock vulnerability to gain control of devices using BusyBox. The latest version of Bashlite arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or downloaded unknowingly by users. It executes commands from a remote malicious user, effectively compromising the affected system, according to Trend Micro. Users should change default usernames and passwords and disable remote shell if possible to these devices, researchers say. Researchers warn that ShellShock exploits are being used by attackers to build botnets out of vulnerable systems.”]
