Barnes & Noble is the largest brick-and-mortar bookseller in the U.S. with over 600 bookstores in fifty states. The bookseller also operated the Nook Digital, which is their eBook and e-reader platform. Customers’ personal information may have been exposed on the hacked systems. The company says no payment details have been compromised but is unsure at this time if hackers accessed other personal information. The cyberattack has all characteristics of a ransomware attack, according to security analysts.
