Card-not-present fraud in Australia is up 13.9 percent from 2016. The biggest source of that fraud is online payments made without the physical card. Fraudsters re-use stolen payment card details to make online payments more secure. The increase in CNP fraud follows a well-known pattern, as EMV-enabled chip cards have led to lower levels of in-person fraud.
