GAO auditors find flaws in U.S. Department of the Treasury’s IT systems used to track the nation’s debt. The flaws include issues with configuration management and faulty access controls. As of Sept. 30, the Treasury Department’s debt stood at about $21.5 trillion. The GAO recommends that the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and the Federal Reserve Banks immediately begin addressing them. The audits are part of an annual review of the federal deficit that the GAO undertakes.”]
