Atlanta’s Ransomware Cleanup Costs Hit $2.6 Million

Ransomware outbreak hit Atlanta city government systems, freezing city’s technology and ability to get work done. The city has not confirmed whether it paid a ransom to attackers to help restore systems. Atlanta appears to have brought in incident response and consulting firms to help it restore systems from backups. Some security experts say it would have been better for the city of Atlanta if it had properly budgeted to prevent the outbreak from ever occurring. Atlanta is one of a number of public sector as well as healthcare organizations that have fallen victim in recent months.”]
