Apple CEO Tim Cook has said the company is eyeing global expansion of its Apple Pay service. Visa Europe confirms global expansion plans for Apple Pay are already under way. MasterCard says it will likewise support any global expansion. There are 2.5 million merchants now accepting contactless payments in 66 countries. Apple Pay will launch in the U.S. in October, but the service will only work at 220,000 locations with NFC-compatible point-of-sale terminals.
