Security researcher Charlie Miller has discovered an interesting method that enables him to disable the batteries on Apple laptops. The method, which involves accessing and sending instructions to the chip housed on smart batteries, could also be used for more malicious purposes down the road. Miller plans to present his research at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas next month. He plans to release a tool at Black Hat that will go in and change the passwords on the battery s processor so that the hacks he developed won t work.
