American Express followed Visa’s lead and will end its relationship with CardSystems Solutions. American Express is giving its merchants until October to switch to a new processor. MasterCard, however, will be sticking with the processor, and is confident its problems can be fixed. The move by American Express may have been symbolic as it processes only a fraction of their transactions.
