Amazon Fires Employee Who Leaked Customer Names, Emails

Amazon has fired an employee who shared customers’ names and email addresses with a third party. Amazon has systems in place to limit and control access to information, and processes in place for identifying and investigating suspicious behavior. Amazon did not comment on how many customers were impacted, and what the role of the Amazon employee was. The extent of the leak is currently unknown, and Amazon has not said how many people were affected. Experts say that a combination of training, organizational alignment and technology can help prevent insider threats.
